Objectives
To support the philosophy of the program, the preschool strives to meet the following objectives:
- To help the child develop a strong sense of self - to allow him or her to "blossom from within".
- To provide an environment rich in equipment and materials where experiences are concrete, to build a foundation for later, more abstract experiences.
- To provide movement experiences for development of physical and motor skills.
- To promote growth in visual, auditory, and tactual perception to sharpen the senses.
- To provide listening activities.
- To provide many and varied opportunities for oral expression.
- To encourage a foundation for basic math concepts though manipulation of concrete materials.
- To provide exposure to different cultures, disabilities, and ethnicity.
- To encourage an interest in chemistry, physics, and biology through simple science exploration such as water, sand and black play.
- To help the child relate to others socially, to make friends, and to be a part of the group.
- To help the child develop problem solving techniques.
- To promote creative expressions though art , dance, music, cooking, and storytelling.
- To establish an environment where learning can take place and be enjoyable.
- To help prepare the child for success in kindergarten with consideration of each child's developmental states.
