I am looking forward to a fun and exciting 2007-2008 school year. I was on the very first board when the preschool started twelve years ago so when I was hired it felt like a homecoming. I believe very strongly in the co-op system, not only for the children but because of the positive impact on the whole family. It has been my experience that the parents who are involved in preschool will continue to be involved in their child’s education throughout high school. Children get the message loud and clear that education is fun, exciting and very, very important. Inmy classroom I promote the concept that play and freedom to explore provide the preschool child with the opportunity to develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. I strive to promote as many child directed activities as possible.

I have an Associates Degree in ECE and a Bachelors Degree in Human Development with an emphasis in ECE. I have spent eleven years working for ESD in early intervention.

I have two children who attend Canby High School and a husband who teaches
at Wilsonville High School. My hobbies include running, hiking, gardening and any other outdoor activity available. I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Alyson Ensrud As an early childhood educator it is thrilling to be able to work in an environment where play and creativity are so highly valued. Canby Community preschool has been a wonderful fit for me because I believe that children should learn in an environment where creativity and exploration are promoted. I have enjoyed working with young children in many different settings. I believe that years of experience coupled with my education make me the dynamic teacher I am today.

I attended the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) for my undergraduate degree. During that time I earned a major in Education and a minor in Special Education. After attending a large university, I decided to participate in a small graduate program through Pacific University (Eugene campus). There I earned my Masters in Early Childhood Education. In the time it took me to complete that degree I also got married, moved from Eugene to Molalla and had a baby! My family and I still live in Molalla. My husband is a teacher and coach at Canby High School. Our son is currently a fun energetic two-year old. It is amazing to watch your children grow and change.

I believe that learning is a life long process and strive to instill the love of learning in my students. I want them be excited about school; knowing it is a place to wonder, discover, and grow at their own rate. The preschool's philosophy that children learn best through play fits intimately with my own view on education. Hands on experiences are vital to the learning process. My classroom is set up to provide children with the opportunity to interact with one another, to be exposed to math and reading skills, and to explore at their own rate.

I am so happy to be a part of a wonderful legacy of education at Canby Community Preschool and look forward to providing your child with an enriching preschool experience.
